About the Division
Our Division of Thoracic Surgery is based at The Ottawa Hospital (General Campus) where we work with a multidisciplinary team of nurses and specialists to provide thoracic surgical care for the vast majority of patients in Eastern Ontario. The multidisciplinary team – which includes thoracic surgeons, pulmonary physicians, chest radiologists, pulmonary pathologists, thoracic anaesthesia, specialized thoracic nurses and thoracic oncologists – ensures an excellent standard of patient care and expedient delivery of service. The multidisciplinary team allows us to provide clinical programs for the best possible care to patients with oncological diseases of the chest, disabling pulmonary emphysema, head and neck cancer and proximal airway diseases, swallowing disorders and myasthenia disorders. Our division is recognized internationally for excellent patient care, and referrals come from other Canadian provinces and territories as well as from the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
Our division is also recognized nationally for our strong residency training program which is very closely linked with the cardiac surgery residency program at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
