Department of Surgery Events
Collins Surgical Day
The Department of Surgery holds an annual review day for surgical residents’ research. The papers presented represent the best of those presented at divisional review days earlier in the academic year. An honoured guest is invited to address the department and participate in the day’s scientific and other activities. The scientific sessions are followed by an evening reception and dinner. Awards are given for the best research and teaching, and the graduating residents are recognized.
In 1984, the residents’ research review day became known as Collins Surgical Day, in honour of Emeritus Professor of Surgery Dr. W.E. Collins, the first Coordinator of the Surgical Training Programs (1976-1984).
