Who we are

Catherine Tsilfidis
Director, Office of Equity, Diversity and Gender Issues

Dr. Tsilfidis is a senior scientist in the Vision Program of the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, and an Associate Professor in the Departments of Ophthalmology and Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of Ottawa. She has an active research program that is funded by CIHR, NSERC and the Foundation Fighting Blindness, and presently holds the Donald and Joy Maclaren Chair in Vision Research. Dr. Tsilfidis has also trained numerous graduate students throughout her eleven years with the OHRI and the University of Ottawa.

Dr. Tsilfidis has been a member of the Equity Diversity and Gender (EDG) Committee since 2002, during which time she has been involved in delivering workshops on 'Demystifying Harassment in the Clinical Setting'. Dr. Tsilfidis is passionate about promoting the advancement of women in science and is one of the co-authors of a document on "Improving Opportunities for Women in Basic Science," which was developed by the EDG Office for the Office of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.
