Teaching Hospitals
At the University of Ottawa, you will have access to the latest technologies and leading subspecialists. Note that the Ottawa Hospital has the third greatest number of hospital beds in Canada. So, there is a tremendous amount of pathology coming through the radiology departments. We are proud of this rich learning environment. The General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital is part of a large health sciences complex, located on Smyth Road. In addition to the lastest in ultrasound and CT, it boasts a brand new MR machine and two angio suites. |
|
| The Civic Campus of the Ottawa Hospital is also a full-fledged teaching site. It too has recently acquired cutting edge technology. Its MR, angio and stereotactic breast biopsy equipment are just a few examples of recent investments. | |
The Riverside Campus is a centre with a special focus on ultrasound and mammography. It also has a new CT scanner. The campus operates on an outpatient basis. However, as a former community hospital, it maintains the intimate feel of a smaller centre. This is another dimension that we are proud to be able to offer to trainees. |
|
| No less than four hospital campuses add to the breadth and depth of experience for our residents and fellows. The Ottawa Hospital comprises three fully equipped hospitals: the General Campus, the Civic Campus, and the Riverside Campus. Trainees also spend time at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario. Each centre has its own areas of expertise from which to benefit. | |
| The Childrens' Hospital of Eastern Ontario is also located in the Ottawa Health Sciences Centre. It is one of the few children's hospitals that offers the full range of modalities, including MR, CT, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and a cardiac cathetarization lab. | |
| In summary, the University of Ottawa offers an excellent environment for residents and fellows in radiology. To learn even more about us, please visit the following pages: subspecialties, current research and staff. | |
