Scholarships and Bursaries: Providing access to education through financial assistance is important. It helps talented and promising students come to the University of Ottawa every year. Whether the scholarships are needs or merit-based, financial awards are an investment in our future.
Named Chairs and Professorships: Faculty members are a critical component of a university's educational environment. The Faculty of Medicine is striving to add new faculty, researchers and top clinicians to our already stellar community of scholars, further enriching the university experience for our students. Attracting exceptional talent will be successfully achieved by increasing the number of endowed chairs and professorships available at the Faculty. Such academic opportunities speak to the financial strength of an institution and its ability to provide an atmosphere that allows for inspiring growth and development among both students and faculty.
Academy for Innovation in Medical Education: The Faculty of Medicine and its affiliated teaching hospitals are working together to consolidate medical education initiatives and create an Academy for Innovation in Medical Education (AIME). AIME's two fundamental goals will be to chart and design new approaches in medical pedagogy throughout the learning continuum and to develop the future leaders in medical education. AIME will be a leader in evaluation and psychometrics research, knowledge transfer, e-curriculum and clinical skills development.
The Ultimate Gift: Several medical schools in the United States and two in Canada have secured multi-million dollar gifts which are transformational in nature. If the University of Ottawa is given this opportunity, then we would hope that the donor will work with the Dean and the Faculty of Medicine in designing this investment in a way that will impact on all aspects of medical education, research and patient care.
